Me

Pictures say a thousand words. That is a fact, and it could probably say more than a thousand. Pictures like the famous one of the Kent State shooting, where the girl kneels over the body of someone who was fatal shot. The man who stood in front of those tanks in the famous square over in China. These pictures tell thousands of stories. But what about the people who took them? They're not LeBron James, or George W. Bush. They're people like me, some no body from no where. That's pretty awesome. I'm just an average person, and for that reason when there is any unusual moments, I should be next to take the photo of a lifetime.

Food For Thought 2

I know I've already thought about this before, but I couldn't stop thinking about it last night. I was reminded because I was so hungry and my friend ordered a pizza with all kinds of things on it. I only like plain cheese, so I wasn't going to eat any of it. Certain smells bring up memories...good or bad, and I couldn't help but think of art at the same time. The pizza reminded me of my light pictures. All the nasty green and yellows, and the red sauce. In a way, it is like making food when you're taking pictures. There is a certain procedure that one follows in order to make great picture. Just like the oven baking the picture, the lens and camera work together to make or bake a great image.

When I was at home, I had no internet, so I wrote down this blog. I will be posting something tonight as well.

Breathe of Fresh Air

Man is it cold here. Not a whole lot of wind to chill, but the first step outside, it bites all the way down to the bone. Joints just aren't as smooth. The way I can see my breathe outside, is beautiful. I want to take a picture of it. All is movement, rotations...pretty neat stuff. I'd like to take some pictures tonight, but we'll see, because it is so cold. And my black lab, Lucy, has been feeling under the weather all day. I hope she feels better too.

History Channel

I was watching the History Channel tonight, and there were two programs that I couldn't turn away from. They were both behind the scenes, one was Air Force One, the other was the White House. Now, I love history. I love Washington D.C., I've been there twice, and I know I would love to go back. In a heart beat. I love the museums. I love the historical feeling that's in the air and all over the city. I love Arlington National Cemetary. The graves, and their precise rows. There are so many different things to take pictures of...I would be overwhelmed! The structures, size, color, architecture, and life. Wow, I'm getting excited just typing and thinking about it. I would love to take pictures of everything at night there too. My mind is racing and I can't type that fast so I'll just stop but at least I got some down. Later.

Bummer

I live in an apartment right across the street from Ashland Community Stadium. Last night there was a steady snow storm. The snow was coming down quite nice, over the stadium and field between the stadium and high school. It would have been a neat picture, because it the darkness of the night, the snow created a smooth fog scene. It was pretty cool. I didn't get a shot though. Bummer.

Sunday

I just found a whole bunch of notes that I had for my series. It had idea's of places to photograph, how to photograph, and a couple of artists/photographers to research. I've gotten probably 85-90% of my series done, I just want to add one or two more images to the series. I also have to come up with the size of the images too. I'm still thinking about the gloss varnish, I want to see how the sample image works on the gloss paper.

Hurts so Good

I am experiencing pain in my left shoulder and my left thumb. I was playing basketball yesterday when I must have tweaked something by driving on the floor. I didn't feel any pain until right before I went to bed, 10 hours after it occurred. It still hurts. I had someone massage my shoulder, and I tried to get it to crack. In the process, the pain was pretty intense. It was so intense that it actually felt good. Weird. I remember about a few weeks ago, I had a bad ankle from basketball. One day I happened to roll the other ankle, so it evened out the pain. That actually made me feel better. It got me thinking about the brain and nervous system, and how psychological things are. Its just crazy that everything in the universe works together.

I edited a few of my images yesterday in the lab, and I started a couple more today.

Thursday

After the critique I went and fixed a few things that were talked about. I took out a few images that didn't really appeal to my peers. I went in and fixed some of the whiteness of the light in a few images, also "Gaussian blurring" a few of the lines to add some depth. Overall, the series is really coming a long. I'm happy with my progress and I wish to have a few more images to add pretty soon.

Let it Snow

I enjoy the winter. Something about the white powder falling ever so softly from the sky. I love the fat chunky snow. Its so huge that you can't see that far ahead. There is one part that I don't like. That is the wind chill. I don't like when I first walk outside and the cold wind hits me, it almost takes me breathe away. It stings all the way to the bone, but maybe that's because I'm getting old.

Tragedy

Last night, the unthinkable happened. I can not believe what took place on campus. I remember getting a call from someone who told me what happened. I could hear screaming over the phone. On the scene, there was a feeling in the air. A horrific feeling. I can remember everyone's faces. I had my camera with me, but there was no way I was shooting the emotion and expressions of the people at the scene. I knew who she was. My heart goes out to her family, and loved ones. I will not sleep because of the horror. The scene, the horrific scene. The glass. Blood. The screams. I just thought about the one picture of the Kent State shooting back in the 70's. Its hard to think about anything else. For this to happen, in all places, AU...a night that will be remembered like 9/11.

I can't believe it. I just can't believe it.

Nov. 9

What I need to be doing this week...I need to print off a few of my light graffiti pictures. I think I'm going to have 8 images all together. There are a few that are too busy that I'll have to crop, a few that are two blurry so I might have to shoot a few more pictures. Overall, I've got some work a head of me, but enough time I should not freak out. I already know how large they will be. Like I said, I've got to print some out this week.

Light Box

I know it might be too late to start a light box series, but is there any information about light boxes. I'm interested in learning about light boxes. If anyone knows anything about them, or people who have constructed them, please let me know.
